Kinja'd!!!

I will eventually do a full write-up of this weekend and all of the other drama associated with this decision. But for right now all you need to know is that THERE IS A TERCEL IN MY DRIVEWAY.

Oh yeah, and I need to cut the grass. Again.

Lovely color! It’s like a... matte cream.. with green.

I think that’s called Arizona sun fade. Once upon a time it had awesome red or maroon retro detailing but that's almost totally gone.

Cool! Although the color kinda reminds me of what the cat puked all over the kitchen...

I really want one of those with a slight lift kit and loaded for Overlanding.

This still has the original stock suspension and it’s a disaster so I’m trying to decide what to do next. That’s absolutely the first step in this project besides making sure it’ll pass emissions.

And yeah...the color isn’t so hot. And the interior is brown, because of course it is. And it isn’t even plaid. But the rust is really minimal and it looks pretty good at sunrise/sunset!

Congratulations!

Loving the driveway too.

Minimal rust is a great start. I’d start with bushings and shocks and go from there. California smog?

Just CO. I just really have no idea how they test pre-OBDII cars here and what other safety requirements might be tied to the testing. Like the passenger mirror isn't attached and it's really unnecessary in a car that's half glass but I might be required to fix it.

It’s possible for a Vintage/Collector plates that don’t require inspection or smog. But usually have a yearly mileage limitation, along with lesser insurance cost as well.

I considered that, but CO is stupid and doesn’t allow them until the vehicle is 32. I should’ve bought an ‘84!

Oh damn that’s an odd number. It’s 30 in PA and Florida

Although brilliant, in prevailing opinion at least, these cars are bound & determined to be at least somewhat ugly. My mom had one briefly, before a string of Outbacks and hers had the plaid + alloys, but the front seats were fake sheepskin, plus if it hasn’t yet expect the powder coat around the window moldings to gradually disappear.

Old car; check the brakes/pads and the brake fluid. If it moves you want to be able to stop... I’ve got an AMC Eagle and probably the only thing that will get a non stock upgrade is the brakes to a Brembo kit similar.

Edit: I forgot to mention my Uncle had a Tercel just like yours, same colour too. Awesome car.

Well....if you’ve got the Tercel now and you don’t need that Abarth anymore....you could always hook up your old pal RallyDarkstrike with your sporty Italian leftovers! >_> <_< >_>

It actually had brakes and alternator done before I could drive it back. I don’t have a fully functioning parking brake at the moment but starting and stopping are otherwise fine!

I seriously considered an AMC Eagle I saw on Craigslist here last year that looked fantastic for about $1,000. I can't remember why I decided to pass on it.

The Alberta winters and road-salt have killed off / rusted out most of the Eagles up here. I found a pretty decent body with not too much wrong mechanically. First large hurdle was the transmission. Now I can get it running well and get to the auto body work that needs doing.
